The day their love blossomed
Shawn Striharsky and Melissa Janovsky’s love story started back in 2006 on the social media platform, MySpace. Melissa came across Shawn’s picture on a mutual friend’s profile and was intrigued by his smile, so she added him as a friend. From there, they started talking and eventually went on dates, which they both agreed that every date is special and the best. After that the couple went on more dates and according to them their perfect date night consists of shopping, a nice dinner, and taking leisurely walks in the warm night air. They quickly realized they had a lot in common and have been together ever since. Over the years, they’ve grown to love each other even more.
Shawn openly expresses that he loves Melissa for her understanding nature, her great teamwork skills, and for the fun they have in everything they do together. Melissa loves Shawn for his understanding and patient personality, his ability to brighten up her day even on the darkest of days, and for always putting his family first. Shawn and Melissa are an outdoorsy and adventurous couple who are also romantic, dorky, and fun. They are a true A-team, always there for each other through thick and thin. They cherish the most important thing in their lives, their daughter Makayla.
How Shawn asked for Melissa’s hand
On July 9, 2019, Shawn romantically proposed to Melissa on her parent’s boat on Lake Wallenpaupack. As they sat there alone in the middle of a beautiful lake Shawn got down on one knee and asked her to be his wife, and Melissa said yes.

The couple’s wedding took place on September 12, 2020, at Shawnee Inn and it was a beautiful day filled with love and laughter. According to them the most exciting part of the wedding was saying their vows to each other and officially becoming husband and wife.
