A Little Backstory.
Erin and Steve met in 2016 and immediately connected over their mutual love of live music (Phish) and outdoor adventures. They say they got serious pretty quick, and getting to spend time with them, I can see why. They are all about keeping things light, sharing lots of laughs, and surrounding themselves with great people.
In 2018 Steve and Erin were exploring Miami on a weekend excursion when Steve proposed to Erin on the beach. She said yes, and they began dreaming of their wedding day and married life together.
The Wedding Day.
Erin, Steve, and a group of their closest friends and families gathered at Mountain Springs Lake Resort in the Poconos to celebrate on a perfect June day. A few of the crew arrived the day before and settled into cabins nestled around the lake. MSL is seriously a special place, and if you are considering a rustic chic wedding, with great accommodations and outstanding food, this is your place. Anyway, I arrived and met Erin and the girls as they were getting ready. I knew they were in good hands when I was greeted by Tia and Erica who were doing their hair and makeup thing. Seriously…these ladies rock!
Once hair and makeup was complete, Erin got in her dress with the help of her bridesmaids. Mom secured the veil and we were off for a first look with Erin’s Dad, (who I can confirm is a great hugger). Having a daughter myself, this daddy daughter first look stuff gets me everytime. After this special moment with her Dad, Erin jumped in a car and we headed to a beautiful area around the lake where Steve was waiting to see his bride for the first time. Erin and Steve stood back to back and read letters they had written to each other before turning and seeing each other. This emotional build was spectacular and got some big reactions and a few tears.
Before heading to the ceremony,
I created a few portraits with the couple and then made our way back to the ceremony site to make this marriage official. Steve Aunt Peggy officiated a great ceremony and then it was cocktail hour. During this time, Steve and Erin made their rounds and got to greet all of their guests. The cocktail hour food at MSL is unreal and seems unending. The sun was starting to get a little lower in the sky and bathed the guests in a warm orange glow.
After cocktail hour, the party moved into the reception hall which is all glass on one side giving a beautiful panorama view of the pond out back. The couple was introduced, went into their first dance, followed by some speeches, parent dances and a blessing….and then the party really started.
We ended the night outside with a few night photos. The couple expressed really wanting to do something with glow sticks because of their connection to live Phish shows. So we ended the night with a really cool shot that I pulled off with the help of my assistant Roger and bridesmaid and groomsmen. Go team. I couldn’t have asked for a better time photographing, and feel honored to have been chosen to spend such an important day with these two.
