Since 2005, Lois Heckman, a full-time celebrant, has been helping couples get married. She is a well-known figure in the wedding industry and has made a name for herself after officiating numerous weddings. She is renowned for her ability to design distinctive and significant ceremonies that celebrate numerous secular, spiritual, and interfaith concepts, beliefs, and traditions that cater to the clients’ needs and wants.

Lois’s journey to becoming a wedding celebrant is not your normal job route. She worked as an instructor and advocate in the battered women’s/anti-rape movement from 1990 to 2006 before she began performing weddings. This event helped her become a better listener, strengthened her underlying convictions in peace and justice, and made her a passionate champion for social change.

A Deeper Look

Lois is a gifted musician and singer in addition to her work as an advocate. She holds a formal degree in religious philosophy from Temple University and has performed on stages from New York City to Europe. Her expertise in music and performing arts gives her the confidence and skill to deliver ceremonies in a clear and meaningful way, which makes her one in a million.

She is a well-rounded and skilled in the industry because she is a registered Humanist Society Celebrant and a graduate of the Celebrant Foundation and Institute. Lois also belongs to a number of clergy and wedding organizations and furthermore, she serves as the leader of Freedom Fellowship of the Poconos which is a spiritual group.

Along with her husband Kent, of more than 35 years and their two Springer Spaniels, she resides in Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania. She participates actively in social issues, the arts, and gardening in her neighborhood. She loves spending time with her family and is a proud grandmother.
