Hey friends, meet Katie & Nick!
These two traveled all the way up from Virgina for their engagement photography session with me. How awesome is that? We planned to meet up by Camelback Mountain at the top of Big Pocono State Park. I knew I wanted to photograph them up in the clouds to match the vibe of their wedding next year, but I also wanted some of the beautiful forest that this area has to offer. They are tying the knot next July at Stroudsmoor Ridgecrest, which offers some amazing views! If you’d like to see a blog for a Stroudsmoor wedding, click here. If not, carry on.
As soon as they stepped out of the car, I was greeted with a matching set of smiles. Ear to ear smiles. I immediately knew we were going to have such a fun shoot together. So after a quick wardrop change, we headed out to capture some moments and make art together.
I love my job!
Photographing engagement sessions is so fun because I get a chance to learn more about the couple, and get them comfortable in front of the camera. That way, when I show up on the wedding day, they know it’s game on! In hanging with these two, I learned that they met at work where they are both 3rd grade teachers! My daughter is going into 3rd grade and I would be seriously pumped if either of these two were her teacher next year!
The couples first date was a movie date to see The Hitman’s Bodyguard which earned 42% on Rotten tomatoes and Katie & Nick give a 2/10 would not recommend. A redeeming date that came later in the relationship was a trip to a Beer / History (two of their favorite things) festival in Richmond. To further illustrate this couple’s cinematic tale, Nick proposed to Katie at Cypress Gardens in South Carolina (where the boat scene in the movie The Notebook was filmed). He asked her to be his wife in a gazebo and then they took a romantic boat ride. This guy has got it all figured out. Well played, Nick.
This playful duo’s personality really compliment each other well. Nick is more outgoing and goofy while Katie is relaxed and affectionate. A night in, cooking dinner together, followed by a movie and some drinks on the couch is a good speed for these two. However, they also love traveling and spending time with friends. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for Katie & Nick, as this is just the beginning.
Enjoy the display of this wonderful couples love.
